may i do the limbo dance of smugness?

sakura1

sakura2     sakura

organzine silk dyed in cherry bark,  48/2 merino wool weft.
wish you could feel it. the hand is unbelievably soft. in theory the front is the gray. i like the back more however, the gray is more wearable.
will rest until next fall by then i will have found the adequate skirt pattern.

bouncing off the walls

 punchi    cards

dashed to e-bay looking for the appropriate tools, a card puncher and blank cards.
the reason? this.!! you can punch the cards and work the  results on a knitting machine! lots of tuck -slip, most above my head, but a great reason to study in depth, my aim for the year.
similar to working graphically on a liftplan. actually, with some ingenuity and image resizing these can be used as liftplans too. alice??

weaving update: on my last 25 cms!!!

food for the bod

lentil salad

a quick perk up to help the bod  with the steep spring climb.
to
lentils marinated in sherry vinegar and thyme
add
cooked broad beans
diced red onion
quartered kumato tomato
black olives
tiny capers
dress with a vinaigrette to which chopped  fresh mint leaves and a dash of tabasco has been added.
or substitute the mint for chopped coriander for a good dose of magnesium and other health benefits.

for extra nutrition you may add boiled quail eggs. they also look pretty :)

rethinking:the world's full of re's

lutra

this is part of the 10 mt roll of 70 gr. lutradur i bought several years ago foreseeing lots of surface design work.or was it because of a stash enhancement strategy?
anyway the roll has been somewhat used and keeps rolling around from one place to another, keeping company to a black one.

lutra traced
this is a what if moment.

if i use it to trace a pattern to avoid dealing with fragile tissue paper and spoiling the original pattern.... given the prices patterns are commanding it's not a foolish thought to keep them intact and some years on selling them as vintage.

last year my pal rubi brought me some notions from nancy's notions-intended pun- which included a lutradur like material for making patterns. so i just had to change the verb make to trace et voila!

much easier to handle,it can be re used provided you keep the category constant :ie can't forge a dress out of pants .
i'll be cutting the pants this pm. and thinking of other uses fot the remaining 8 mts. of lutradur.
what other uses can you think of?

weaving update: today's finito day if all goes well.

this is fashion because i say so- vi

summer dress

dressie finished. now i have to wait for the weather to come through. winter decided to come back helped with more rain.
the dress is my very easy very vogue pattern 9677. it's sold as vintage pattern(!!) in various on line venues.i discarded the sleeves, and added a bit more flare at the bottom although it doesn't show in the photo. it's actually tent shape, not straight.

curious how my notions about sewing have changed over the years. and how my mild dyslexia manifests when  looking at the pattern directions and translating them to the fabric. didn't happen  when i was younger. or did it?
next on the cutting table- cream colored linen pants.but first this little number needs a hard pressing.

meanwhile loomworks  progress.if i really work hard i might finish this week.
