too hot amigos

to run a vat, to thread a needle, even to think. i propose my hodgepodge salad as a no brainer  cool and refreshing recipe.
 in a platter:
3 tbs lentils
2 sliced tomatoes
some black olives
fresh goat cheese
generous amount of chopped coriander
some basil leaves
paper thin cucumber slices
baby capers
mix with extra virgin olive oil.

enjoy with a watermelon fizz and fresh fruit.

what you get:
 the protein from the cheese and lentils,
coriander provides potassium,magnessium and flavonoids;
tomatoes: anti oxidants, flavonoids and potassium  + vitamins A C E K
kiwi and coriander:calcium plus vitamins A K E
watermelon: beta carotenes, anti oxidants + lots of vitamin B6
the cherries and yellow plums are for pure pleasure.

not bad for a no brainer ;)

of underwear colors

 one of my pet peeves are those sweet baby blues and pinks i call  underwear colors.they are pretty and i don't do pretty.at all.

nothing that a little brazilwood can't tame. although the dye wasn't too strong-still trying to exhaust.
i bunched up the t shirt trying to get some visual texture, but didn't suceed.however,the color is much more pleasing to my eyes.
tomorrow i'm starting an ai vat as husband-san is out of town.he's coming back to that surprise :)

worth its name

 the burgos cathedral,one of the architectural wonders of spain in a town full of notable architectural sites.

and after sightseeing you can relax enjoying the foods and wines of the region. not a bad plan at all.

guess what

thank goodness for chinese dollar stores.they are all over spain, even in small towns in the hinterland.
it was fun watching foreigners discover their convenient wonders  and how they started referring to those stores as the spanish call them: los chinos.

my camino kit was the bare minimum, 2 tshirts, 2 undies, 2 pairs of socks, a pair of pants and a pair of shorts plus a fleece jacket. amazing how little one needs!
but the unexpected happens; unseasonably cold weather ergo shorts went out of the equation.
what to do? look for for los chinos! i found the above for 5€. not a fashion statement :) but made of 100% cotton and they kept my legs from freezing. it was 9ºC at night!

guess what's going to happen to them ? ;)

even the accessories are walking.

have you noticed that walking has become a recurrent topic here?

yesterday  i bought a walking foot for my sewing machine.this foot is not news for quilters as it is quite a fixture with them, but for me it means sewing knits and therefore making knitted fabric.

it may sound like anathema to most, but for the time being decreasing to shape armholes and necks will have to wait. after all, the sweaters we buy are all cut and sew.
what gave me the courage is this post. from this blog that i found and have started following.

there's going to be a lot of knitting and sewing in the near future.

i see many possibilities, especially those loose, origami like garments so popular among the japanese!
