r&r again

how can those fierce looking gate posts be r&r you may wonder. well  i find machine knitting-from now on mk-stress relieving while  taking time off the loom for  some  physical rest. i need  to administer weaving time wisely if i want to keep on  weaving many more years.

continuing along the grunge line ,the dyeing is yet to be defined .the linen self study is going on and part of the blame  lies on jean. until last year i had not devoted time to understand and work with it. it is a difficult fiber which requires a lot of attention, but it is enormously gratifying to work with. its history is not as romantic and mysterious as silk yet there's some wholesomeness that silk definitely lacks.

stages

right now everything around me is in stages. i am even in stages. going through the early spring famished stage. does that happen to you too? i get so incredibly hungry in early spring and fall.

the work above was a weaving sample in the early stages of its life. after lots of painting some machine stitching and collages of sorts all it needs to be finished is that mythical little something that will make it sing  (._.)   sigh!

the weaving is mid stage while the 24 sha loom has finally finished the warping stage. now on to error checking and correcting. curious that i weave much faster on the table loom albeit it being totally manual.

it  most certainly has to do with its bigger shed.

dyeing is also proceeding in stages, the brazilwood silk is already finished, the indigo will start soon and there's also a screenprinting project on the back burner.

even my plants are going through stages.two clematis went down  the president and the viticella minuet but the multi blue came back to life after the bug attack .it's complicated growing clematis here and i'm really looking forward to moving up north and being able to grow them there.

chugging along. the weave is open, but it will -hopefully- collapse as it's an unmercerised cotton weft on a high twist cotton warp.it's a 2/2 twill and the real thang will be achieved, again hopefully, in the dyeing.

spring is a season of hope and promises!

the draft. no rocket science because i'm weaving it on my table loom hence doing the lifts by hand.

i am being taxed more than enough with the other warp which is as mentioned yesterday still in the beaming process. i'm sure you do not want to know why.  if the warp yarn behaves as expected the longish floats where the diamonds flip will create some cool texture.

answered prayers

this yarn finally became the one above.after just two days of sun dyeing. very hot sun and the final trick: more dye liquor :D
