of widths

                                                                  sleeve pattern

one thing is clear: if i want to continue making cloth for apparel either a new wider loom or dress japanese style. their looms are narrower than mine and their system is minimum  cloth waste.
researching the net for kosode history and patterns i spent a good morning finding all kinds of information.
from there i developed my take, a short top with the  length  of fabric i have.

making a muslin first to avoid hand tremor as i cut the fabric.the pattern is extremely straightforward however.
i can even use the length of fabric i have folded over and opened in the front, as it has a separate piece that conforms the collar.
let's see how this fits i'll be sewing the toile tomorrow. sewing used to be summer activity as my studio was an oven.
still haven't get used to having a cooler temperature. although i have to say temps are expected to go to the high twenties or even 30. poor people here, they are not used to these temps. still much, much better than barcelona because nights are cool.

my sectional set up with some more hacks.husband san gets frantic with my hacking mentality. the ever architect.

a pattern

wet finished and pressed, now it's time to source a pattern. there's 1.5 mts of  it.if i weren't such a chicken i'd try to draft one myself, but that would mean endless muslins  until i get the fit and the look. maybe next time.really pleased with the nubby rough look of this silk. it gives character to a simple crepe weave. less is more.

only one meter of the kakishibu weft. thinking about piecing the pattern for color blocking as i'm not sure the ai meters are going to be enough.

can you see the iridescence?

and now news from the pot garden

multi blue clem. in theory;hardly blue and not double  stamens.  not what i bought, but pretty though.

learning about clems now that i can have them without frying.have created a big pinterest board with information, but not overly concerned with the pruning issues. ignorance is bliss.

calamodin in bloom.smells delicious. it's a dwarf tree still more akin to a bonsai without the styling :)
however not all is pretty flowers
rant alert:
a few days ago photobucket decided to charge to enable 3rd party hosting. in other words to link a photo to your blog you need to pay now. business is business and everybody is out to make a buck no mater what.tired of the candy man strategy who offers you free candy for a while and then wants money for what used to be free.in the old days the only ones that offered gif uploads was photobucket, but things have changed, a lot i may say. so i spend a whole afternoon uploading my gifs to get rid of their ugly notices.blogland is full of them. time to say good bye to photobucket as i did to flickr. weird that they don't know better.

my set up

don't have a warping wheel, don't want one and don't have space for one. too many don't in a sentence, but such is life.
i make chains, put them through the tension box then the raddle to keep the width  tying the chain to the beam. then i wind . it goes pretty smooth and event free. i am however, trying different systems to see which one feels more organic .

more than half already warped.
