to every thing there's a season

and a time to every purpose...
this is a page from a book i bought when planning my first trip to japan.it was shuttle love at first glance.could not get to them then. although i spent 3 months in japan there was too much to see, experience, eat and absorb. almost on sensory overload i came back and took me a good two years to process, slow that i am.

on my second trip i got to them and the maker. by now i had the right weaving mindset, a loom beyond my 12 shaft table loom and felt very much at home in terms of the craft; had done away with the art vs craft bs and was fearlessly weaving submitting work to shows and not apologizing for or justifying my weaving.

now when i use my shuttles i experience things i don't know i could have years ago.i'll never know, but it really doesn't matter.

from small to adequate

the extension to house the sectional beam has helped with the small shed. now i have an adequate shed and don't feel  as if weaving on a toy loom. now it's just a matter of sticky warp threads.
my hack  for cap for  nÂș3 solenoid   has also worked.
the double bobbin shuttle works like a charm.
i feel somewhat naughty weaving with it as  i lied to hasegawa-san about my fly shuttle.had i not he would have not sold it to me. i know the japanese.
but not all has been  peachy rosy. there was a moment of panic this morning because i could not find the threader for the shuttle. thought i was lost in the move. fortunately, very fortunate indeed, i found it with all my shibori hooks.

i had to forgo the 9 km walk today if i wanted to start with the weaving , but it paid off.
the weave structure is a simple crepe i found
in the weaver's net some time ago. i think
this is not the first time i use the draft.
the fabric has some sort of rustic charm
due to the irregularities of the silk.
this was my last ai dye the summer before last!
no wonder i have withdrawal symptoms.

too many distractions

and all more fun than the endless debugging. watch the rain falling, go out on the terrace to see the mountain get shrouded in mist, work on the terrace giving shape to my pot garden, not the smoking one but the container one(*^▽^*)guests. and so on .
if all goes well debugging will end tomorrow and i''l be able to start weaving.

second verse,same as the first

i have learned to undo rows efficiently. also binding of with the latch tool that felt scary when i started.
there's also the lack of rush to finish because the climate here is much cooler and i can open the door to the terrace.have wonderful chirpy visitors too.

k machine fashion

getting more confident with the k machine; deciphering instructions, but still knitting squares.
this is a boat neck linen top now  being blocked. beautiful yarn, but sinister to bind off because it splits and catches on the latch tool or crochet hook. will get there.
blogger has the hiccups.
