last week was all about ferrous acetate; making it, creating different strengths and thicknesses and working with it with various tools. all worked on tannin mordanted cotton and linen.
a felt stamp with thickened weak iron was used in the above. it needed more guar gum than what the recipe suggested. however the blurry edges look nice, somewhat ikat like.
using the water pen filled with an unthickened strong ferrous acetate was much more enjoyable than anticipated.
tremendously liberating and going with the flow, literally and figuratively. less stressful than trying to get a perfect print.
both samples were gallnut lightweight cotton.
i got paranoid bcse the instructors kept reminding how easily all your tools and working space get contaminated w.iron and how careful and clean one has to be. i who tend to fall on the almost sloppy
team was constantly washing brushes, stamps and changing the paper covering the printing table.it has paid off as no major disaster has happened.
btw where did october go? ¯\ ( ツ ) /¯
