bengara

the series i have been working on since i returned from japan. all that red and those stones found their way into weaving. the beginnings are here  ,where i explain the process, and here.
i beg your forgiveness for the quality of the photos. it proved to be a greater challenge than expected and this is the best i could do  (´_`)

  1. What an inspired and inspiring series! I really love the depth of color in these pieces, and how the twill lines pop.

  2. I think you've come up with a really interesting series, Neki! Forgive my inability to explain my feelings clearly but they're kind of oppositional: funky/beautiful, old/new, rusty/earthy, fragmented/whole. In other words, I like 'em a lot!

  3. this is a beautiful series, its intriguing the way the stone patterns begin to suggest landscapes to me. I'm curious how large are they?

  4. Looking at these pieces again (because they are so compelling), I almost see small gatherings of people having conversations.

  5. Enjoyed reading about your process. The pieces are very appealing, closely related but each one with its own personality.
