the exercise above is the culmination of this one. the buff layer unifies the cacophony of shapes, in a play of hide and seek. i'm calling it completed.

plus some extra shapes on the upper left corner to frame the flowers and make them focal.

Impromptu

trip to oviedo. away for the rest of the week. however here are some photos for your entertainment.

interlude

yesterday was cloudy nice and cool, great day for working in the studio. parked the composition exercises to work on the bride's shawl.
started with a low tech hack adapting a piece of a candle so that the linen yarn could pass through it and get waxed. life is easier when machine knitting waxed linen, just passing it through makes a big difference, especially if it's ultra thin.

then came facing the beast.using the ribber is high stress for me. ah! the woes of being self taught.









i presume there's going to be lots of high end linen dish cloths .

whoa! woe!

lesson four was about creating pattern repeats.
trying to avoid the circle visual cliche and here i go! one can easily find stuff around the house to print with. problem is that round or circular things abound.mea culpa.

busy.but i like the rauschenberguesque look/ feel.

however today's market day aka 

grocery shopping. not too much is

'nother  take from lesson 3. background lacking variety and contrast, but not entirely blah. how's that for artspeak.

more gloom enters the scene. tough week last one
and that's an understatement.i have mixed feelings about the heaviness, but do think the glooms work.
