considering the situation

the top conundrum, but working on the next warp. part of this summer's ai vat. would like to have the chains ready before i leave for madrid next week.silk. and this time i'll size it.
why  oh why can weavers accept sized industrial yarns yet we are such purists with our own? or maybe i should speak in first person singular.

creativity gymnastics

sometimes excretion happens hitting the proverbial fan.
wet finishing left me with a fabric length -or maybe short is more accurate- narrower and shorter than what was needed. in other words, there's not enough for sleeves. not in the mood for making chains, warping and weaving especially after having so much hassle with the yarn.
oh well. thinking of alternatives; cutting the sleeves from some left over felt from here , adding some of whaterver's left from the weaving as cuffs to integrate the sleeves to the top and last adding a front tab in the same green felt in the hopes that the top wont look as if i ran out of fabric.(which i did)

working with layers of tyvek using the heat gun to create something out of frustration.
the second layer is a scrap of woven fabric from this project, which coincidentally was another warp from hell-i'm starting to see a pattern emerging.
two layers of tyvek painted in close related colors, the silk scarp and two layers of poly organza sandwiched together, machine stitched and zapped with the heat gun to reveal the different layers. then zapped some more to make the woven layer more prominent.
i should add some beads to it.

also making a new warp, this time indigo dyed silk.and i'm going to size each chain to avoid frustration.going downtown next week to the japanese grocery store to check out if they carry funori to make the usual japanese sizing for silk. if not plain  watery rice starch will have to do. still thinking about adding a drop of oil to it.
thoughts anyone ?

done

muslin done. just very few tweaks like adding 1 cm to the sleeves. i am a large in japanese patterns, (because they are so tiny and short!) still i need an extra cm t the sleeves.
i am extrapolating the back facing and the pockettos.still not sure  whether to add the collar or not.
i expect a sewing weekend .and after that  can turn on the k machine.such discipline makes me feel virtuous ^_^
btw if sweet red bean paste comes to your neighborhood cinema run to see it.poignant and beautiful.

a japanese day

checking my pattern, tracing it and getting ready for the muslin. don't know if i ever mentioned this app.if an app made life worth living it would this one, trust me.

then spending my afternoon at the movies watching sweet red bean paste by kawase naomi.
and perhaps, still in character,  rounding it all with matcha and dorayaki.
life is sweet.

of ending and finishing

everything ends: the soprano's  and big bang re runs, my favorite show on portuguese t.v., fig season, hot weather.
i finished the hairspray can used for taming the warp. but man,oh man, haven't been able to finish that - expletive deleted- warp.

it goes throw beat, throw beat, throw beat
throw beat. stop,mend.
really can't understand the broken warps because i've used those yarns before with no problem. i still have a painful 75cms to call it finished, i know i cant cut it and move on. but i'm sure i'm going to be missing those cms  for the garment.
i am beginning to feel jealous of all those perfect warps i read about on line.
to call  this warp a character building experience is an understatement.

everything has been put on the back burner and as a result it's pretty crowded back there.
no knitting, sewing, dyeng, arduino course and even blogging.
and xmas is lurching .
