despite the rain

a good weekend was had (been wanting to say that for a long time). it was cool so i could concentrate on working and not sweating.even wove for a long while!
finished this lutradur  piece that had been waiting for better times. painted and stamped background, pieced woven scarp from this project -nothing goes to waste-machine and hand stitching and puff paint. really like those voids!

i want to explore puff paint further, would like to
do something to erase that school craft hour look.

more paper

lol! i can't even link my own photos in instagram. that's the price of privacy.
however, people find ways and then you see your photos in pinterest  >:(
but i digress; another paper work this time beaten kraft paper, treated with graphite powder, bronze paint and then treated with patina activator. it was stitched with copper wire(difficult!!) and patina activator was painted on the wire. there's also a bit of scrim ( cheesecloth-yum!) at the bottom. i wanted to create a trompe'oeil effect with the copper stitching and also reflect some of the wrinkles on the paper.
the photo is in the artsy fartsy category so no crispness or sharp detail, but lots of filters. bear with me.

doing the paperwork

background is already knitted with incorporated distress, papers painted and patina added.
the paper is beaten esparto grass which is very versatile and forgiving.
just need to treat the background and assemble all.assembling means composing well.

the second one needs further work, it's  slowly getting there.

recycling whatnots

recycling woven samples.adding paint and other whatnots and whatifs. the thread webs are a sort of instant gratification, even more instant than machine knitting.

this other one is slow work and eventually
will hit the vat.this awesome vat stayed weeks without needing sharpening. it is now finally in need, but i'm waiting until the rope is all bound.

hell in way of high temps were expected today,
but it is not so bad, i think the worst is already past.

revisionism

revisiting working with paper and threads. stitching and making my own webs. this is on its way to finish line, but not yet.

some fun was needed to get out of the known, the planned, the structured. just to breath into something unexpected. thinking about doing a mark making exercise every day as a training, warm up session.

this was a sketch of a series that never got done. perhaps now i can re take it and see where it goes. just for he hell of it, no pressure.
the papers are mine from when i flirted with paper making.
