usually my vid postings are self explanatory but this is an exception .

this is the dancing egg l'ou com balla in catalan.

part of the corpus christi traditional festivities along with the flower carpets , it is a hollowed eggshell that when placed over the fountain jet it bounces and dances because of the force of the water jet. the fountains are heavily decorated with flowers and fruit, especially cherries and oranges.

one word to describe it: mesmerizing

whether to do two threads per pass or torture myself with two shuttles.



top band is two shuttles, bottom is two threads x pass.
opinions welcomed.

dyed and gone to heaven

 a bit bluer actually. now  superwash, and zipper buying. hopefully it will be done by tonight.
dyeing linen is a different story altogether.

a lot of cooking going on

lantern skirt already cut. used a medium weight ivory linen. the remaining will go in the ai vat and will be used to finish the patched cover.

tested this color and contemplating dyeing the skirt .the color is a grayed lilac.have to decide today.

color blanket.like both the purple& the lime green-who would have told me, the anti green person, that i would develop a like for lime green?

don't know whether to use both colors in one pass or do a 2 shuttle weave. have to decide today.

learning to use this shuttle. will do a post on how to thread it because it is very ingenious.

 don't think hasegawa-san  will like the fact that i'm not using it on a fly shuttle. 

the frenzy is because i need to finish the weaving before the heat strikes and renders the studio inoperative.

another bubble skirt

the pattern is the lantern skirt from hot patterns.  it is an easy sew, but i spent time making this toile because i am not familiar with their sizing. i think i am going to contravene a couple of laws because i'm planning on sewing it a lot and also altering it.

still pondering about how to dye the scarf.

about finishing

right off the loom and it sprung, but waiting for the wet finish to see the outcome. i've learned a lot here; about tension, about crepe yarns, about weaving a long warp on a table loom. who would have told me it was possible to develop rhythm weaving on a table loom!

still need to think about the overdyeing whether to use logwood or a red dye,whether to overdye it straight up or do the funks.
