you might be seeing the last one

although i still have some warp to go i am hitting the boredom threshold.  have already completed 8; my series are usually 15 and from there i choose 10. i am also dying- mind the spelling- to weave a shawl with the wool stainless i bought in kyoto. and there's also the shuttle item. want to put them into use before i get a new one  ^_^.
there's also some sewing  to be done.provided i find a suitable knit which is proving to be impossible.
at least in town.
11ºc this morning. all of a sudden it got cold. new walking routine begins.

if yarns are 100% polyester

does that make the fabric 200% polyester?
what a shame! it goes so well with the gifted knit.

but i can't bring down a  gorgeous silk knit with all that plastic. i performed a flame test and the scrap turned into a gooey ball meaning there is not a single natural fiber in that fabric.
today it's raining cats and dogs so i'm postponing  the trip downtown until tomorrow to scout for something better. i could give in to 20%  of something nasty, not more.

still have warp to go, but have a feeling i'm repeating myself. maybe let it rest for some days and do something else?

whoa woe

this gorgeous gifted silk knit.i thought i had enough for my shroud, but was proven wrong.

being extra careful as knits require i traced the top pattern in whole so that it could be cut in one piece. i thought that would also be a fabric saver, but alas no.

the skirt pieces;  2 pairs for the top part and two pairs for the bottom of the skirt. not enough for the 4 bottom pieces   (╯︵╰,)
have thought of two solutions

  • either knit a black piece myself and do a one to one on both the front and back or do the whole top or bottom with the knit.
  • or hunt for a plain black knit fabric.

still have to decide. meanwhile the weaving proceeds.

inspiration is hard work

nº6

the more one works, the more inspired one gets. this is nº 5 already finished. it has given me some thoughts about the series; i can see the whole of it now not just the individual pieces.

'nother

next one already on its way. i just hope to get 10 pieces of work from this warp; the mess behind the heddles is mind blowing. hemp is beautiful, but weaves with pain.
