some after thoughts.

• this is a great complement to the slow weaving i do. it is not instant gratification, but given the slowness of weaving it could become.
• the more detail in the image , as in the second knit,the more it becomes muddled in the knit.
• the larger the solid areas the more readable in the knit.
• i love stray pixels!
• i've discovered some things about fudging with the aspect ratio, but won't bore you with that.
• black & white seems more visually effective.
• have to try 3 and 4 colors

the hack went well and as you can see i can knit images. it's all new and fun.the program is a very simple one called img2track ,but it does what is required.

i need to work on the aspect ratio issues which are in the core of success.

trying to apply what alice taught us to knitting, but machine knitting is a different animal.

no other choice, but sample, sample, sample.

the new laptop. one of the good things about the economic crisis is that customer service has arrived and it's here to stay. gone are the days when the delivery service was " someday during this week" so you were held hostage in your house not daring to go out.the consequences of not being present were winding, long and stressful and you wanted to avoid them at ll costs.   

the hacked cable. that was piece of cake.

husband san- is in charge of installing the drivers.i will leave it there.

thought i'd give the finito to this one. hemp is a difficult one to weave and the mistake in the middle was driving me crazy. i had about 6 more centimeters, but the middle threads refused to tighten  even after wetting them. hence two threads weaving together. so be it.

starting another one during the weekend and hoping to have solved those kinks.

speaking about solving i am waiting for my new laptop to be delivered. found a cheapo which will be dedicated to the knitting machine as planned. hope i don't get punished for the excess.

woe is me

or in current parlance bummed out.

at least the weaving is going well albeit slow. number 3 is weaving along.

was all ready for the knitting machine hack, drivers downloaded, cable and connector, husband-san by my side holding my hand and providing unwanted extra information; the works.

turns out that the cable drivers might conflict with the loom usb converter. the solution would be to uninstall and stay loomless something that at least in this life it's not going to happen. 

and to add insult to injury the program runs in win 7 and 8,but the laptop running the loom is xp service pack 3.no run no program. it means that either i get a dedicated laptop for the knitting machine or forget my idea of knitting images. in a household of 2 there are 2 desktops a netbook a laptop and 2 tablets. it is obscene. and i need to get another computer.SIGH  >:{ 

will start with craiglist for second hands and move from there.

moving on.

slowly migrating my photos from flickr to ipernity now that i have paid space. have not uploaded anything to flickr for a year and will remove all albums not linked to my blogs. there is such a free for all over there .
