re-sleying for double weave

EGGADD sample! the frugal weaver in action again. there was about 1.5 mts worth of warp left on the other loom which was not going to end in the landfill. let's see what double weave  prowess i can accomplish  ^_^

this is fashion because i say so -vii

have i mentioned that i have a toy loom? i couldn't get enough width, without weaving double, for the front pattern . the problem was the curved bottom so forget about placing it on fold .
i redesigned the front more a case of engeneering, by cutting two front pieces and adding the curve. the pattern originally didn't have it because the skirt rests at the hipbone, but i like to live dangerously.
all in all it was an easy sew,it came out well and  i'm very pleased with  it. new outfit for the weekend!
now i have to get back to the silk merino skirt that is driving me nuts.

many boring samples and some gratification

but oh how much i've learned! however.....
some diversion needed . i processed an old knitted sample, aged it with rust, foiled it, painted it and added beads which are close to impossible to get on a quick photo shoot.
backed it with some remaining silk fabric ( see this)

 et voila! some gratification.
i need to start making things with all those knitted samples before they take over the little space i have left. not that this will make them evaporate mind you, just change their state :(

let's stop weaving and start sewing

washed, pressed cut and serged. between today and tomorrow i'll have a new skirt to show you.
i can't believe the hand of this cloth,  it looks and feels like herringbone!

aaaannnd we're done!

last 20-30 cms. of the warp. it will have to wait until tomorrow for its heyday because today there is a lot of domestic bs that has to be addressed.
but i'm not complaining as it has been pleasurable weaving.

loom hacks

thread separator : from a plastic  clothespin basket. (yes, we still hang the washing)
threads can be staggered if need be.

idea from amanda
use the ribber weights for warping!
especially short narrow warps.

hooks for adding weight, for separating bouts, for everything.

weaving update: halfway mark, 1.50 mts to go.
