thankful

potentially red wine

in no particular order things i'm thankful for:

the color blue
the things i've learned this year
thriving seedlings
NHK international
family and friends
the sucessful ai vats
the big invite
husband-san (although he can sometimes drive me crazy)
the good books i've read this year
no bugs in the plants
the good laughs i've had

happy thanksgiving to ya'll.

life is not about waiting for the storm to pass.it is about learning to dance in the rain.

by virtue of sampling

10 shaft granite created in photoshop.warp is 20/2 mercerised cotton, a remnant of another warp sleyed 3x dent on a 10ends x cm reed. weft is 42/2 mercerised cotton in some cases paired with a fine silk tram.a good, fun exercise, with some possibilities. some of the backs are interesting too. the last bit was woven with a heavy beige silk yarn, almost cord.stiff but soft. winding silk for yardage now.

of witches

silk twill

according to popular belief there are two kinds of witches: good witches and bad witches.bad witches are called bitches.
good witches are called fairies. i, like wendy and peter, do believe in fairies.i do! i do!
not only that, i have proof of their existence. just look at my mail of today.

the color of things

windfalls

some windfall lichens picked up almost 2 years ago at my sister's right after a storm.
finally got to soak them in ammonia waiting to see what color i get.been soaking for 2 days and  it seems i'll get a yellowy beige- with luck. the color is not terribly exciting so far so i'll leave them  alone and wait.
general strike  in southern europe today. as if frau merkel cared.

this is the way it ends

  detail

not with a bag. look at all those little lines. i think i should have stitched less. i'm not 100% pleased, but, given that it was an upcycle project it came out o.k. and i rendered the shawl usable(??)think the soda ash reacted w. the glue and the gold foil turned weird . it will eventually fall off.

fini

full view. and i thought i was skimpy stitching! the negative lines could have been thicker, but i like the way they integrate the stamping and give unity to a somewhat scattered silk shawl.and the ai came out nice and dark, lighter at the back but, i just can't stop fiddling with some new downloaded actions.
now, that's entertainment :)
