connemara

connemara ireland along with gaelic culture and history it's also known for its linen.this was a gift which had been in a long sleep and decided to rescue it and put it to use.it's super fine  but long staple fiber therefore little or no abrasion if sleyed properly.the other warp was driving me crazy with the shedding. non stop sneezing and coughing.

yet another warp . this project is 

an exercise in patience. i can console myself thinking about all i've learnt with the previous warps.

may the third one be the charm.

call to order

lil' susie homemaker spent last week sanding, waxing and putting up shelves.with husband -san's help.

now i have a table to work on. all that gained space and order makes me dizzy. the walking closet also gained some shelves.

the rest of the week was spent trying to fix the web page and cursing. nice little free programs for setting up web pages are being discontinued or are not compliant with the windows updates. will eventually update the page to a newer design, but can't deal with that now.

mini forest.interesting fact: in order to develop trunk and stop being leggy momiji seedlings need to dance in the wind .immediately brought them outside.

this year calamodin is looking good.

 last year no flowers hence no fruit. 

cucumbers are being babied until bigger then they'll be planted outside.

already planted toms,radishes and lettuce.let's see bcse we're under a cold spell now.however my gut tells me it's going to be a good year

even got back my japanese painted fern which is pumping.beyond delighted since i thought it had gone to a better life.

i've not been able to spam too much this year bcse the flowering has been weird.bcause the weather is weird.it's cold again and windy when everything is all out.

my only  spamming chance is sumi-e. i feel i've gotten better. the old adage is true ,practice makes perfect.i'm not concerned with perfection as much as having fun and fun it is.

new warp ,already sized ready to be beamed and threaded. it might be parked bcse i was approached by a friend for a collabo. he's a geek who developed an algorithm for dithering rotating objects. where do i fit?i'll be knitting an image. let's see if the project comes through.

all set for summer printing with natural dyes. well explained recipes for print pastes, something lacking in many books.

the other book also arrived.there's a link for audios bcse part of the charms of waka poetry is the cadence. lovely edition with ukiyo-e illustrations. it's a tuttle edition .that says it all.

some bird studies.they lack proportion,but they are expressive so who cares. class is full of rank xerox people who can make exact copies, not here.i just get the feel and go with the flow because i am aware that i am a poor draftsperson.

at last. the bad news is that i will need to re warp as i consumed the warp in tests.and just got a mail from my geek friend who is interested in a collabo with me for a show in barcelona. guess this one will have to be parked.

latest obsession: life of an ota.

 and there's another one coming. talk about being ota. hyakunin ishuu, reading and studying the differences in translations. the spanish book keeps the poems in original,kanji and all and then romanji. having a serious ball recognizing kanjis.

twice tried to go to the museum in kyoto but it was closed for reforms. 

hooked up again by means of a dorama. she recites the waka poems with the actual intonation-chant lovely!

gratifying sumi-e  unlike goldfish,birds are easy to draw.

even if the proportions come out weird the whole of it looks ok.

transfer works well ,weaving is uninspired. it looked a lot more interesting
in my head.

ditto here although the blue warp works better.

i think the problem is that i'm trying to replicate an old success story and this doesn't cut it.or maybe i do not possess the skills to weave the feeling of that place.should i lay it to rest and come back to it later or should i dismiss the project altogether.?

babies are growing healthily,still inside although momiji does withstand cold. by april -may i 'll be able to plant my mini forest. and give some away.
