working to finish this series.all has settled and the work is going smoothly.the yarns are speaking, the structure is also speaking.the images blend well. the effort put in the work feels positive.

on a disquieting note and sorry to be the herald of doom,read that about 80% of the wearables, including fashion are at  best  aging badly and at worst  disintegrating. the use of synthetic materials in the 70-80

have proven not conservation materials whereas costumes from the 17th-18th century are still intact.

unification

did a massive iron modifier bath . left to right weld (maybe) but it was bright yellow, light benibana pink

more benibana ,stronger pink,the rest can't remember but they seem to be on the orange side, maybe madder?pleased,pleased with the outcome. need to start planning the warp.

murasakizome. the gray is after the iron modifier.it's a gorgeous lilac gray one of those off hard to describe colors.

those are silk bourette so they have to be wefts,or perhaps a knit?

serendipity 101

 just cleaning the brayer on scrap paper and this didn't look bad so i followed. sometimes the unplanned turns out better than the planned.

proof of concept.or maybe it needs more work.

after a long time and bcse of a notification went back to colour lovers.

it was one of my life jackets during the rough years.it then started going south,especially the forums so i stopped visiting. 

now it's back on track  and after a thorough cleanup it holds promises.

i have a LOT of good templates there most which would make fine textile prints.

interesting to see how the eye has developed. need to go back at least once a month. if not to sharpen my wit naming the work   (￣ω￣ )

kaizen and

the joy of gardening.this one is close to 8 years old and not only does it keep coming back but also it has produced off springs.life cant get better.

but wait, it does.this one's closer to becoming a yuzu tree.look at the stem becoming a trunk.if all goes well it will be a small tree in 027.

i need to place the yearly order for fresh yuzu.they are still green on the tree though so i need to wait a couple of more weeks. running out of ponzu sauce and can't live without it.

ooops here in spain it's not friday but tuesday the 13th the omen.hope we don't experience more disgraces.

a few observations

the datura which i thought was a goner put out 2 flowers.the weather is sooo weird we've had two 30º

days last week.plants are beserk.

kukes are putting out flowers now looks like i'll have a late crop this year.

osaki momiji has been red all year

bore management

tying on is not fun rather a godsend punishment. always wondered about people, mostly children and women who did that task in a mill.hence the accident rate among them.

monoprints are a relief from boring tasks, they are instant grat, you deal with color,and if you follow the wave you can end up with a quantity in one hour. getting them together and binding it's another story. or craft if i may say.

i am testing watercolor crayons on acrylic prints to see if they work.so far so good, but i think i can push them further.this one's still a wip.

when you need more warp

the warp was cut and i was left with the feeling that i had not said all i wanted to say. that more work on

the enoden and fuji-san  vibe was to be done. therefore i am tying in a new shorter one.talk about

process.

on another note discouraged with the japanese lessons. i am acquiring bad habits and not doing much progress. class is now reading and translating, which is a big no no in teaching a language ,any language. to check understanding there are reading comprehension questions and then text discussion .

people in class are happy ,they don't know the hows, and  they have something tangible like a photocopy to feel they are doing some work in the language.i'll give it one more month an if not sayonara.

this year's plants have had more downs than ups but when there's an up it's surely one.

summer bulbs from lidl have a faint scent. win-win

photosuck

the photo sucks but you get the hang.two views of fuji-san side by side with a woven frieze. watercolor painted background on the one on the left. it aligns and squares off in real life rest assured. always thought that if i needed a big blurb to explain the work,i might as well write essays.i give hints, the rest is the viewer's work.

after all the issues with the linen warp this series is quite enjoyable.my aim is to let the materials speak too.after all it's weaving.

and in the why not dept.

scads of watercolor pencils, crayons and cakes lying around  idle. why not convert them to ink and use them on textiles? i
then i don't have to buy textile inks ( she said thinking of the airbrush)

it does work albeit subtle in color. i  don't care much as it will detract from the image  transfers.
