logwood. understanding how it works, following the recipe step by step.no more eyeballing, ballpaking nor fudging. bourette silk twice mordanted in alum WOF at10% this is after 10 minutes in the bath, a pretty lilac.this is going to be the weft for a coming project.the warp, also silk, will be painted with thickened dyes.
this is after 35-40 mins in the dye bath
temperature at 90ºf.
logwood really blooms in hot temps,it acquires depth . because it is not lightfast this depth will be preserved by adding 2%WOF of iron which will make it darker and more lightfast.
i have started reading about titanium oxalate improving both light and wash fastness. going to explore that avenue soon.
still have to decide whether to leave as is or overdye with a weak cutch bath.
