chug-chug-along

so far from the inner landscape series this one is my fave. but i've just woven 3. by the end of the warp who knows. jute is a nice material, but fuzzes like crazy. not even   my beeswax cake tames it so weaving is slow. so is  brocading. thinking where to lay the yarns and where not to weave.this is a lampas threading, but the weaving is invented :). thoroughly enjoyable!

  1. I just love these pieces you're working on, they are exquisite. I love the way they look as if they have been in existence for a long time, and the mix of colour and pattern.

  2. The slowness and deliberateness of it is what I find most compelling about your process. This piece is just beautiful.

have you tried spraying the jute with either spray starch or hair spray - unscented? it's a quick way to control the fuzzies.

thank you so much for your kind words. all about weaving has to do with slowness so weavers are used to working slow aren't they?

  6. There are some weavers, though, who are all about producing as much cloth, as quickly as they can. I prefer to savor, and let things simmer.
