fabric sourced for this skirt. came from the quilt shop and you're not supposed to use quilting fabrics for sewing . so says common wisdom. wish me luck!
Cloth is cloth. Why can't quilting cloth be used for garments? I think you are supposed to use the cloth you like, so long as it's tightly-enough woven that the seams will tolerate the person wearing the skirt sitting - that's usually what stresses skirt seams.
I think that particular skirt will look great in quilting fabric -- it will give it more structure.
Where I don't use quilting fabrics for garments is in the "upper story" -- hence the ridiculously large collection of lawn and voile I've been assembling in this sewing season of mine.
