fabric sourced for this skirt. came from the quilt shop and you're not supposed to use quilting fabrics for sewing . so says common wisdom. wish me luck!

  1. That's going to be one bold skirt! What great fabric! Good luck! Look forward to seeing the finished product.

  2. Cloth is cloth. Why can't quilting cloth be used for garments? I think you are supposed to use the cloth you like, so long as it's tightly-enough woven that the seams will tolerate the person wearing the skirt sitting - that's usually what stresses skirt seams.

  3. Hope you have been smarter than me and remembered quillting fabrics are narrower...
I'm sure the skirt will be great

  4. I think that particular skirt will look great in quilting fabric -- it will give it more structure.

Where I don't use quilting fabrics for garments is in the "upper story" -- hence the ridiculously large collection of lawn and voile I've been assembling in this sewing season of mine.

interaction appreciated!
