proof of concept

have been thinking to come up with ways to warp sectionally with warp chains. don't want to buy a warping wheel as i dont have the space for one and it also doesn't fit in the downsizing frame of mind.
here's what ive come up with
  • tie the end loop to the section cord and bring the chain to the middle,
  • fix the cross sticks with the cross  and thread the reed.
  •  pass the chain all the way to the front and put the weights.(mind you this is easier with 4- 5 mts long warps.)
  • fix the raddle and separate in bouts

pass them through the tension box dents

start winding

the blessing of this system is  that you dont get twisted yarns hence almost no breakage,
the rade off is that it's somewhat slow.but weaving is about time isn't it?
if you need more info feel free to comment.

learning new skills

warping 3 colors with the warping paddle. a royal PITA is an understatement.

my hacked spool stand turned sideways with the paddle clamped to it.much easier although i still have to pay attention to the the tension in each cone. if it's too tight in one the yarn will break.
the advantage of the paddle is that the colors will always be in the designed order.

gosh golly november's already gone.
