ground control to major tom

found led strips at ikea. you snap them together and voila!you have 1.60 mts of light.

then with some blu tack they can be tacked
at will wherever. like so, under the castle and you  can have  your private space shuttle  (^_^)

seriously now, i'm warping the walnut dyed wool for the herringbone yardage. so far so good no broken ends. and the light is going to be with me.

relief

that's what i feel as the season closed until next year. tree down and recycled, the last of the fruitcake gone and back to the old routines. i don't say this very often, but i missed those old routines.

the scarf went through the first dyeing, the color's less red and more indigo. nice, but boring.
the intention was a first layer in dark blue then twist and bundle for a black overdye. this afternoon will find me at the dye pot doing a first time lanaset dyeing; living dangerously here. have to get glauber salts first.
yes, girls and boys i'm not doing natural dyes this time.

twelfth night

"This is a practise
As full of labour as a wise man's art
For folly that he wisely shows is fit;
But wise men, folly-fall'n, quite taint their wit. (3.1.14)"

finished and into the pot for scouring spinning oils. the collapse shows right after cutting it off the loom. anxious to see it after the soft boil.then on to dyeing.

the maggi do not visit our house, but we can feel the excitement in the air as the neighborhood kids open their presents.
then at lunch awaits the cake with a small surprise token inside. and that signals the end of the christmas season. until next year.
