back at the loom

blanket2blanket1

testing the ground if you pardon the pun. the grist of the pattern yarns and the relationship with the ground warp. colors also. although this won't be for wearables those considerations nonetheless matter.

...and ready
already weaving. disregard the pins   ^ _^
sewing is on hold. still not sure of how to cut the fabric to its best advantage.
note to self:
have to think of pattern placement when weaving yardage.

lovely find ;all you've ever wanted to know about yarns how they turn into fabric and what to do with the said fabric.
another lovely find passap duo 80 knitting machine.thinking,thinking.
(did not know that passap was pfaff)

auditioning

red
the cotton loom controlled shibori fabric has been conveniently aged  ;-)  time to cut and sew.
planning on stitching the pleats so that they hold.maybe machine stitching using a contrasting colorto highlight the brazilwood colors. what do you think?

blue

the silk yardage is a bit complicated to place a pattern to take full advantage of the difference in color, various values of ai and kakishibu and texture.
and i need about 5 more cms to do so so that front and back match.i would like to use a sleeveless   peter pan collar pattern  i drafted.

patt

thinking about this pattern for the red cotton shibori fabric.

i have more than enough for it

many truths in one post

pants

first truth of the post: i've dropped one size!
this pattern runs big therefore i made it a size smaller.even though  i had to take the pants  apart- after all that topstitching- and take them  in about 2cms. they are still big, it's the style, but not clown pants big.
the linen is very pleasurable to wear. i don not care about the wrinkles at all, i'm wearing a natural fiber.

truth number two: april showers bring may flowers.

drosanthemum candens  clem
                                    drosathemum candens                               clematis jackmanii

the clematises are very vigorous this year and the plants in general look lush and healthy. coming up lots of flower posts this week.

trying new things

lace

oh brother! had to bring out some winter wear because it's very cold again  and in some parts of spain it's even snowing. here is only wet and cold.
the sample is this gorgeous linen blandina got me. i read somewhere that one can use fair isle punch cards to make tuck lace and off i went to try it . at a very loose tension the top part is tuck lace and the bottom is slip stitch followed by stockinette and ladders with eyelets.i find the slip stitch lacking definition, but the tuck part could be a doable. another one for the bag of tricks!
