bengara bought in kanazawa in 2018.the kind man from the hotel located a store which sold bengara and other pigments for treating their wooden walls.there's a whole neighborhood painted 

in bengara.that was a good trip, not many tourists yet and had the onsen experience in kaga onsen near kanazawa.

pardon the digression. 

also bought 2 small jars of powdered kakishibu.

 

i am practicing using bengara for backgrounds for sumi-e. after i gain confidence i'll start using the suiboku  paints from japan.

a week of ganbaru

although i do have a life i managed to thread and reed last week. i need to debug and decide on the weft: two possibilities in wool/stainless steel.more collapse fabrics. then on with the show. the warp is silk dyed with madder, walnut and food grade water soluble (?) tannin .really counting on the japanese class hiatus.

benefits

bitter cold weekend at last,lots of much needed rain as well. can't complain about the weather if we're graced with this view. plus we're green again.
