clamped

this other one needs a thorough revision as it can sing given the opportunity. it's circa 2014 an experiment in finishing crepe yarns.
clamped and boiled softly it created puckered  and flat areas.  yesterday it was retrived and was put in an acidic bath to soften. but again it needs the hair conditioner and a more open sett to function.

this whole revision has me thinking in terms of clamping. why are weavers expected/ required just  to weave the substrate on which REAL artists work producing meaninful works in surface design, embroidery, silk screeing etc and then going on to writing profound artist statements? ( ≧Д≦)
 i will ask in insta.

why oh why wasn't i born in japan?

new collapse

testing a stainless steel core wool yarn.it is so effective!with minimum effort one gets a sucessful outcome. the stainless is the bottom one on the leftover silk warp currently on the loom. the top one is two picks s twist two picks z twist basket weave. my feeling is that the sett was too dense and that affects collapse and hand.was tempted to resley but the groundhog in me prevailed  ¯\ ( ツ ) /¯  will have to wait till next warp.
anyhow it looks promising.
