of revisionism

eleven years ago this one was bought and read. as with most weaving books it needed a second more aware reading.and thus the weaves have also been revisited  particularly finishing techniques.

crepe yarns are harsh and scratchy due to their twist.
the industry has means to soften them ,but the hand weaver has to opt for less pro solutions.
one of them is putting the woven fabrics in an acidic bath.
btw this red was obtained during my procion dyes period.

the bath softens them to a certain extent but they need more treatement. these will undergo the second treatment which is a hair conditioning bath.
we'll see.
on the tooth front after a week on antibiotics all's ok. now on to the dentist.

another episode of the frugal weaver

thrums from this project too godd to throw away. gorgeous japanese silk dyed with natural dyes.motainai nai. had kept them and finally have found a niche.
the scarf is going along great will be finished this week.still reveling in how pleasant this weaving has been.
with the leftover warp i am attempting a japanese style  drawstring  pouch. plan on weaving a simple crepe and then dyeing the resulting fabric a 30x30 silk square.
the silk thrums will be braided and used as the drawstring.kind of a fun project. all after i heal from a
&%** tooth ache.i'm on antibiotics and waiting to see the dentist.
on another note thinking about weaving a crepe yardage to make a top if i survive the dental issues.
stash busting strategy, need around 5 mts for a top with sleeves counting that the loom is just 80cms wide.
