into the blues

recouping a yarn skein from a knitted project that never really made it. looked too amateurish for my taste. the yarn is atractive, the issue is that it's for handknitting, hence too lofty and prone to splitting.

will try something again. there's another skein god knows where in the studio.

need to get my act together and start making reservations for the trip.decided to move it to mid oct -mid novermber to be sure to catch some of  the colors.

the news is that my two banks do not have currency exchange anymore( everyone is taking the easy way out post pandemic) they operate with an exchange company which gives lousy exchange rates.they claim they don't charge commission.( as if we were dumb).

guess that the way of traveling has changed .good thing i still have yens from the last trip so i won't arrive empty handed to the airport while i change money.

im also depending on my debit card since suica and pasmo cards are no longer available for small purchases and transport. another convenience lost to the pandemic.

japan is mainly a cash country and the reason is that  the yakuza doesn't operate with credit cards for obvious reasons.

a good year for letties

not so good for toms and eggplants. it's been cool,wet and cloudy all june and july. kukes are not doing great either

a single eggplant  flower and i planted 2 plants.

last year kukes took over and i was collecting one every 2-3 days. this year some flowers and a single one that has matured.

i'm not complaining bcse on the other hand temps have been like what they're supposed to be in the north.tit for tat.

more waves

guess i discovered my favorite stencil.on a fat quarter painted with watered down ai dregs.the pattern was stamped using  full strength ai dregs with gac 900 as binder. the taliban dyers
will surely stone me to death for using gac, but who cares. ¯\ ( ツ ) /¯ 

another flavor, this time bengara on ai.this was dyed at the begining of the vat so it's a good clear mid blue.

think this vat is a goner need to kill it. however the information i got from it using gelatine and dyeing silk is invaluable. have even taken notes to keep  record.i've become an adult dyer.  o(≧▽≦)o .
