あいのあい ai no ai💙

i discovered these folks via insta and was instant love,blue love💙💙they have a huge farm in southern spain and have started planting persicaria tinctoria aka japanese indigo.there has been some derision on line  from purists. however,  yes, they are rich kids.  but they could be having champagne and canapes at the country club yet they are doing this. more power to them and to us that now are able to get indigo locally grown.bring out the sustainability flag  and the carbon footprint spiel.

sometimes people forget that revolutions are started by those who have their needs covered and are socially aware and concerned. true, there is glossy marketing, a beautifully crafted narrative and excellent community managment, but the product needs to be sold. if elegantly done so much better.

a woman  follower contacted me as she saw i had bought some indigo. she dished a bit, expressed some concerns and wanted a report on the performance. ive always defined myself as a kamikaze weaver and dyer. if people knew my practice i'd be banished from groups and most likely the planet.

next week i am going to be testing it,can't wait.

cashing in on sucess

or the frugal designer. saving this threading for a new project. an ambitious one since the warp is going to be merino wool and the weft is going to have crepe wool.the shifting in warp threads is going to create pronounced ridges and valleys.hopefully.in my head it looks wow so i'm not sampling.or at least that's the plan lest i chicken out.

i need to start debbuging the warp on the dobby, but firts the yarns have to be dyed. have a huge lot of various scoured silk skeins .that needs to come first in the planning.this week i'll clear tai-chi, but i already have a heap of little bs to attend.  ¯\ ( ツ ) /¯

chilled white and summer nights

even though at some point my finger joints and wrists threadened  collapse this was enjoyable and relatively simple to weave.the warp behaved beautifully althoufh there were 2 errors which were purposefully left so as not to offend the buddha ( ¨¨ ω¨¨ )    

textiles are a chore to photograph, you need pro equipment for them to show properly.

there's a slight shift in weft colors from brighter to duller .you have to trust me on that one.ntural dyes glow in the silk yarn like wanna be fireflies, at least in my mind.
