there's a science involved in the print paste
the freshness of it, the amount to print not too much as to create blobs along the edges, not too little as the print will not be sharp and clear and many other variables that escape me.
the process has to become automatic the proverbial 100 repetitions in order to be competent and confident.
my buckthorn dyes brown,go figure!
tonight is opera night,norma.

good ideas
poor execution. cochineal overprinted w mordant paste and then dyed in logwood.
logwood is so vile it overshadowed the cochineal.
just to think that then it will fade to almost white since it's not lightfast. ಠ ಠ
i need/ want to explore this overprinting stuff.
been fighting with stencils and a way to fix them to the cloth as it is mission impossible to find spray adhesive . don't know what happened but it disappeared from the market.
then, tadum, freezer paper came to the rescue.
every time i go to the u.s. i bring back rolls and rolls because it's a crafts staple.
cutting stencils from freezer paper is fun easy and incredibly operative.
it worked well, but i forgot to dunge the work therefore the wash off was significant. these are processes that i want them to become automatic, then i can concentrate on the product.
i am learning quite a lot from the workshop, even taking notes, but i need to move on to module 2.!
