kibiso romance

this is kibiso, silk waste turned into a yarn so to speak.irregular, bast but with an incomparable sheen while at the same time being matte.
got it in kyoto at a shop on horikawa close to the nishijin textile museum. always stop there and always find surprising things. this time an unfortunate surprise, as the lady behind the counter mentioned while we chatted that her husband, the person who tended the shop, had passed away the last year.

kibiso is full of rustic charm, very poetic in the way it weaves

this is kami ito, paper yarn, bought at avril when it was still on sanjo dori. now they are somewhere in the north of the city out of the beaten track. that's good for the pocket.
both are going to be used  on the next project.

doodling

 doodling for the next project.
first stage using handmade washi and some squares from the infamous linen warp.
some threads will be added on stage two.meanwhile warping the table loom with hair thin silk.
 easy peasy compared to linen.

oh elation,oh rapture!

cut, cut, cut. all tenses at last. no wonder people work with cottolin warps.
managed enough cloth for a number of projects. now it's a matter of fun and games before i start warping again.

spring is here and all the apple trees are in bloom. white clouds on the fields.
