the meaning of summer

kaki summer 011

dyeing , little or no weaving.getting yarn ready for winter weaving. aizome and kakishibuzome. fortunately the colors are meant for each other they go so well together! The yarns were dipped twice in kakishibu and left a day each time. they were sunned until i was pleased with the color.no color modifier was added so the color is the natural peachy brown.
dying-note the spelling ^_^ to get back to the loom.

at the fair

Imagen0062Imagen0063

period embroidered velvet curtain used as a table cover at a street fair stall. the stall traded in antique books, so it was not totally irreverent.

the stitching was a very tight chainstitch worked in a chenille yarn and as you can see in some points it looks like cut  velvet.

the velvet was green and in some parts had faded to a grayish olive  green.
the photos are not my best because they were taken with my cell phone.
