ourlette

latest scan  for your enjoyment. the legend says it is the embellishment for a ladies purse or bag. i can see it in silk with a tassel dangling from the bottom, very art nouveau! the motif can be used isolated or grouped in any way you fancy. the scan is half of the chart so you can resize to your taste.

go here to download the chart.
hope you find this useful.

stitching and stitching duduwah

stitchingm layer2

second layer . did some stamping and started heavy stitching. as it turned out , except for some split, satin and running stitches the rest has worked out its own way as chain stitch and some of its variations.there's still a whole lot to do on the white areas.

stitch biblelast week was delivery week. first the brush and then some books i had ordered from amazon. among them the bible by betty barnden

(-standard disclaimer-no pecuniary interest, just a happy buyer.)

i'm just a beginner in this league, but i can recommend it wholeheartedly.  one can follow the very clear graphic instructions which are complemented by a written part.she also includes a manual of good practices as well as good references to threads, needles and appropriate fabrics.for more experienced stitchers it's a great reference book which also covers canvas stitches, pulled and counted threads stitches .
one thing i absolutely love is the way it's bound. spiral bound with a hard cover so that the pages don't suffer and keep attached to the spiral.

i plan to use it as my stitching pillow book.too bad this week is christmas cake turmoil and i won't have too much free time.it's becoming a tradition for me to go to my friend's for making, baking and wining as in wine tasting (^_^). tipples anyone?

this one could well be about tennessee williams

grunge brush

and the kindness of strangers.
the help plea for my 牡丹掃け (ぼたんばけ-aka peony brush) was answered, as you can see by the box in the background.the internet can be a pretty awesome place too.

beauty and beast
no need to point out which is the the falling apart grungy brush and the brand new baby.
how can i not be available for help?
one needs to keep the wheel turning, the great mandala.

on a less mystical note a lesson learned. one has to use the brush as part of maintenance.if not the glue dries out and it falls apart. use, baby use!

have a good inspired weekend.
