conversations with style

two years in the making.finally got to treat the hakama i brought back from japan.the net advised to add salt to the bath, which reacted with the hydro giving the water that characteristic color. the rtinse was unexpectedly clear, no unfixed indigo washed out ,therefore it still crocks, although not as much as in the beginning. needs another treatment until i can wear it with a white t-shirt.or perhaps two treatments.
dying-mind the spelling- to wear it.
first week without tai-chi, need judicious time management.

latest obsession: life of an ota.

and there's another one coming. talk about being ota. hyakunin ishuu, reading and studying the differences in translations. the spanish book keeps the poems in original, kanji and all and then romanji. having a serious ball recognizing kanjis.
twice tried to go to the museum in kyoto but it was closed for reforms.
hooked up again by means of a dorama. she recites the waka poems with the actual intonation-chant lovely!

temptation carries a proper name

pigment tokyo. a place i avoided going last year as my cc were acting iffy with japanese card readers.
it's a place to break the bank.
i bought three aya suiboku colors in a beloved store in kyoto but they were out of beni color . i was left  carrying that small pebble in my shoe.
as my friend who was in tokyo some weeks ago couldn't bring the beni cake for me i, in a what the hell moment ordered it from japan and since shipping would be the same for 50 grams than for a kilo i splurged and ordered 5 pastilles.
took a week customs clearing and all. dhl rocks for a seamless efficient shipping, you get what you pay for.
so here they are in all their splendor: classic nihonga colors of beni, ai, shikon plus two yellows cochineal red verdigris and a light blue.
i will be adding touches of color as soon as i feel confident with sumi -e..

first week without japanese class. my renshuu app is smoking with self study.
