a fact of life

this dress was not going to get anywhere. ever. here's a refashioning  using a sport wear type of zipper
to make a skirt.gosh it looks enormous! ,but i'm size 42eu which is  average standard.
still have to decide on the waistband whether a curved facing or your regular waistband. never ending story, hope i can wear it this summer. geez it's already mid may. ಠ ಠ

putting together a top

with handwoven fabric and no cutting-no waste.silk dyed with natural dyes including madder and indigo.trying my hand at stripes, some thing im not specifically fond of working, also trying green, a color i am starting to understand.it is satisfactory to make your own clothes.buying is relegated to  outstanding garments that i can't produce.
big, blocky and japanese.great in my book of hours.
now i need a skirt or some pants.

living on the edge

pants finished.more to come, but first a jacket.japanese patterns are easy to follow provided you know how to sew.i found the explanation of the elastic back somewhat puzzling, there are easier ways.
anyhow i'm going to make sensei happy today saying something and koto ga dekiru. that was the last lesson.going to try going fancier, linguistically speaking  (*^▽^*)

a tale

how the two and a half hour dress became a three day dress.
because ofthe sleeve bands that i wanted to coordinate with the hem and pockets.
ended up giving up.will have to live with it as is.
gosh, those langelook dresses always look enormous.

excellence and craft

air france uniforms

note the detail of the jacket slit meeting the pocket slit

always  such a pleasure going to the balenciaga museum in getaria. so much to learn.
too bad the maison didn't keep with the master's creed.  the balenciaga maison closed last week.

such wonderful invention

sewing patterns that is. tried this gifted kasuri fabric with instructions on how to make a kosode with fabric rectangles.
japanese women look fantastic because they are petite and their bodies are in scale with the traditional japanese fabric widths.i looked like a frumpy potato sack. however, not all was lost since i just cut the panels in length i was able to use an old pattern  with a minor adjustment.
inside time is making me very productive!

hem and topstitch

and this is done. re-purposing a well beloved dress for the top part. the bottom is wool nun's veil. those nuns really know their fabric.
seems that it never gets really hot here i am going to keep sewing this kind of jumper but changing the skirt.long sleeves underneath and i'm set for summer nights. hope this is not in the category of famous last words.
i am still going around the silk fabric i wove ; not too sure of the patterns because it is such a short length and i'd really have to piece it.doubts,doubts.

k machine fashion

getting more confident with the k machine; deciphering instructions, but still knitting squares.
this is a boat neck linen top now  being blocked. beautiful yarn, but sinister to bind off because it splits and catches on the latch tool or crochet hook. will get there.
blogger has the hiccups.
